Day-by-day itinerary
Arrival Muscat
Meet and assist on arrival at Muscat International Airport. Transfer to your hotel and check in. Remainder of the day at leisure to rest after your flight or take a short walk along the corniche. Overnight in Muscat.
Muscat city highlights
Full-day city tour of Arabia’s jewel. Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque (subject to visiting hours), the Royal Opera House Muscat, and a scenic drive along the Muttrah Corniche. Explore Muttrah Souk, Bait Al Zubair Museum, and Old Muscat with the Al Alam Palace and twin forts. Overnight in Muscat.
Muscat – Nakhal – Nizwa
Drive inland via Nakhal Fort, set against the Western Hajar. Continue to Nizwa, historic capital of the interior. Visit the great round fort and the souk (Friday livestock market when in season). Afternoon at leisure in town. Overnight in Nizwa.
Bahla, Jabreen and Jabal Akhdar
Morning heritage circuit: Bahla Fort (UNESCO) and Jabreen Castle, one of Oman’s finest fortified palaces. Continue via Birkat Al Mouz and the 4WD road onto Jabal Akhdar, the Green Mountain, for cooler air, terraced villages, and rose or pomegranate farms in season. Overnight on Jabal Akhdar.
Jabal Akhdar – Wahiba Sands
Descend the mountain and drive east toward the Sharqiyah Sands. Board 4WDs for a dune drive into Wahiba. Sunset over the red dunes, optional camel ride, and dinner at a desert camp under the stars. Overnight in Wahiba Sands.
Wahiba Sands – Wadi Bani Khalid – Sur
Leave the dunes after breakfast and continue to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful oasis wadis, with turquoise pools set in limestone. Afternoon drive to the historic port of Sur, known for dhow building. Overnight in Sur.
Ras Al Jinz, Wadi Shab and Bimmah – Muscat
Early visit to Ras Al Jinz for the turtle nesting beach (seasonal, subject to reserve timings). Continue along the Sharqiyah coast to hike Wadi Shab’s hidden pools and stop at the Bimmah Sinkhole for a swim. Scenic coastal drive back to Muscat. Overnight in Muscat.
Departure Muscat
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Muscat International Airport for your departure flight, or continue with an optional add-on (Dimaniyat Islands, extra Muscat night, or a cruise-call programme) on request.
